Developed Roxie.com Website - Adobe 'Site of the Day'

While I was the Director of Web Development at New College of California, New College bought the Roxie Theater business in the Mission District in San Francisco and expanded their Media Studies program to include a concentration in Film Studies. I worked with Roxie and New College staff and directed production of a cool new dynamic site, roxie.com with graphic design by James Baker and programmed by TJ Downes of sanative.net.

The Roxie had never sold tickets online and they were updating the schedule on their website (usually) using old-school static HTML. We wanted to give them the ability to sell tickets online and to decrease their workload as much as possible.

I got together with Roxie staff to discuss their needs. They, of course, did not want to do double data entry of movie and schedule information. I proposed and pushed for implementation of an automatic way to update TicketWeb data from roxie.com. We worked it out and TJ implemented it and now the Roxie staff use TicketWeb for online sales and don't need to do double entry.

Adobe recognized roxie.com as 'Site of the Day' on the first day of Spring (and my Dad's birthday), March 21, 2007. Here's what Adobe wrote about the Roxie site:

"The Roxie may be the oldest continually operating theater in San Francisco, but it has a fresh, new website to direct film lovers through its ever-evolving offerings. Find out which feature films are playing this week, check out local dining options, get directions and parking info, or check out the film archive. Sanative created this database-driven site using Dreamweaver, Flash, Contribute, ColdFusion, Flex, and Photoshop." (Mar. 21, 2007)
