Managed Network and Desktop Systems

As Information Systems Manager at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, I was responsible for the network and our desktop systems, providing technical support and troubleshooting for Windows and Macintosh hardware and a variety of software.

Boxes and wires, while of course essential, were not the most fun part of the job, especially since we had old, donated equipment which often took a little longer to coddle and/or resuscitate.

I enjoyed working with administrators, exhibit designers and floor staff to help them with their software needs. It was a fun place with unexpected opportunities. For example, sitting in on a planning meeting for the "Play it By Ear" exhibit gave me the chance opportunity to make a big drum.
