Implemented First Organization-wide Email

The only connection to the internet that the Bay Area Discovery Museum had in 1997 was one dialup account. The Director of Operations could see the importance of email and he had set up email accounts for staff that they were using internally but with no connection to the outside world. Being a clever guy, he figured out how to dial up, download everyone's email view one POP account, read everyone's email (!) and forward to individuals on the local network.

He hired me as a contractor to improve the situation. I dug in and figured out what was necessary to set up IP Netrouter to talk with Eudora Internet Mail Server (EIMS) and deliver mail from a queue downloaded via the dialup account, resulting in their first organization-wide email connection to the rest of the world.

During the process of working in the office, I helped other staff by providing a bit of training and tech support. This led to my being hired as Information Systems Manager, working at the museum for more than five years.
