When Day Became Night is a story of ordinary citizens in times of war. The piece unfolds through the eyes of a journalist who becomes possessed by the Bone Girl, a ghost whose entire family and village was killed in the Holocaust. She is a rootless soul whose story must be heard in order for her spirit to be released from this world. The journalist has distanced herself from the atrocities of the war through her work at the paper which has been taken over by the Nazi party. Through fear, apathy and denial she looses contact with her self and her community, allowing the seeds of racism to take root. Her encounter with the Bone Girl forces the journalist to bear witness to her complicity in the erasure of the Bone Girl's culture. She then becomes a vehicle for the truth as the Bone Girl's story emerges through her.

Stich-Tche-Na-Ko
by The Qube Chix (20:00)

Created in collaboration with Pamela Z (composer/singer) and Julie Queen (singer)

Stich-Tche-Na-Ko, draws from the Keres Indian's myth of The Spiderwoman who created the Universe through her thought. Influenced by Japanese Butoh, the piece explores the themes of death and rebirth. This transformational ritual is sculpted through movement and visual imagery. The lush and textually rich musical score is performed live using voices electronically processed through digital delay loops and integrated with acoustic and prepared harp. Black and white film footage provides the backdrop for this haunting piece.

Circle of Bone
by The Qube Chix (90:00)

Created in collaboration with Pamela Z (composer/singer) and Julie Queen (singer)

Circle of Bone is a modern movement opera about the ruins of warwars between countries, wars within the self that keep one trapped in a perpetual destructive cycle, wars that continue to haunt one through memories. The piece examines women who continually must pick up the pieces left behind in the aftermath of the wars, bury the dead, and continue on. Through the process of calling forth strength and guidance from within and from their ancestry, the women undergo a transformation which offers inner peace. The piece challenges the audience to look at their own destructive struggles and through this confrontation find the possibility of change.
