Jehanne Hale
Sculptor and performer Jehanne Hale is originally from Saskatchewan, Canada, where she spent her childhood falling in love with the prairies. She graduated from The Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, in Vancouver BC, with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art, and now lives in the Bay Area with her partner and fifteen month old son. She has combined the wonderful scent and color of her medium with her own personal cultural associations to create large, remarkable quilts out of beeswax. She also makes labyrinths, landscapes and bread out of beeswax in her continuing exploration of symbolic and sacred spaces. Her work is at once a heartfelt celebration of traditional practical domestic arts and an intimate study of the vital connections we share with our insect neighbors.
